Good Deal Alert – Outdoor Products at Wal-Mart

While shopping in the Sporting Goods department at Wal-Mart the other day, I was looking for a waist pack for short hikes that could hold my cell phone, wallet, keys, etc as well as being able to hold a water bottle on the outside. Using my CamelBak felt unnecessary and bulky for quick 1-2 hour hikes through local trails. I wanted something small that could store a few essentials and could hold a water bottle.

I immediately saw one, the brand is Outdoor Products and the model is the Mojave Waist Pack. Two things that immediately caught my attention was the price, $9.97, and that it came with 2 plastic water bottles(500ml) each. Upon reading the tag, it stated that it’s also backed by Outdoor Product’s “Plain + Simple Lifetime Guarantee.” I thought to myself what could I lose? The waist pack was exactly what I was looking for, at a price that was about half to one-third of what I was expecting to pay, included 2 water bottles, and with a Life Time Guarantee! Needless to say I bought it and can’t wait to use it.

Here’s the link to their website and the Mojave Waist pack in particular: http://outdoorproducts.com/mojave-waist-pack/

When I got home I checked out the details of their lifetime guarantee, and it pretty much covers anything that would happen to it through normal use and all I would have to do is go online, fill out the form, and send it back to them and they will replace the item.

I also did a quick check on Amazon/Shop42A.com and found the same item going for around $22. You’re not going to find a better product for $10 plus tax at Wal-Mart.

There was also a few other items worth mentioning too, such as the Interval 8.0 Waist Pack from Outdoor Products, perfect for a jog/run. It comes with one bottle and a small pocket perfect for EDC items like keys, wallet, small flashlight as well as a small mesh pocket on the other side of the bottle for energy gels etc. This is going for $7. Another item that caught my attention was Outdoor Products “Mist” and “Kilometer” hydration packs. Both come with a 2 Liter bladder. The Kilometer has a small accessory pocket perfect for keys, wallet, cell phone, pocket knife, flashlight, etc and goes for $20 at Wal-Mart. The Kilometer is geared towards mountain bikers, the small accessory pocket will hold and extra tube, pry bar, and maybe a CO2 cartridge and pump. The Mist is probably geared more towards a hiker and can be used as a day pack. It has Multiple large pockets for gear and snacks as well as a quick access front pocket, compression straps, and a sternum strap. The Mist goes for $30 at my local Wal-Mart.
